Like our bluegums, investor and government interest in the forestry sector keeps growing. Spurred on by this attention, ABP has teamed up with two other companies to appoint Liz McKinnon as its new External Affairs Manager.
At ABP, we know effective communication with government and community stakeholders is critical to our success – and to the economic health of the communities we operate in.
With that in mind, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve appointed communications specialist Liz McKinnon to the role of External Affairs Manager.
As our external consultant, Ms McKinnon’s responsibilities will include:
- Building partnerships with the broader agricultural industry to promote the value of the carbon market
- Identifying, managing and facilitating the coordination of key issues, with an initial focus on investment in the Geelong, Otway and Heytesbury regions
- Promoting the hardwood sector’s focus on plantation investment and domestic value-add, including product trials for timber and biofuel
- Engaging in community education to promote the sector’s sustainable management practices
Ms McKinnon comes to the role with impressive credentials.
As the founding CEO of the Green Triangle Industries Hub, she brings deep expertise in the sustainable resources sector. She was also South Australia’s first Cross-Border Commissioner, which saw her advocating for the state’s border communities and dealing with complex policy and stakeholder management environments.
ABP CEO Russ Hughes believes that Ms McKinnon’s two decades of experience in media and communication makes her the perfect candidate for the role.
“Liz has a strong understanding of the industry’s strategic direction and business operations, ensuring she is well positioned to promote the hardwood sector’s future and recognise areas for new partnerships.”
With Ms McKinnon’s extensive experience and skills on our side, ABP will continue to improve its external communication – enhancing our ability to share the important role of our sector in Australia’s economy.
