On Thursday 13th March 2025 the WA Women in Wood Fibre event was held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Albany. An event shared with our contractors and industry colleagues to celebrate International Women’s Day, promote diversity and inclusion and advocate for the women of our industry.
The event featured guest speakers Adele Farina, CEO of Forest Industries Federation WA and Danielle Wiseman, Research Scientist at WA Plantation Resources. Both speakers shared their experiences, challenges they have faced along the way and where they see the industry going in the future.
MC Darren Culverwell, Chief Operating Officer at LV Dohnt and Co, also spoke about his support for women in the workplace promoting careers through training and qualifications, to help ensure the long-term viability of our industry.
The event was closed by Sheri Tarr who spoke about gender equality and the increase of female employees, with a growth rate of 10% per year since 2021.
A key takeaway from the event was the overwhelming support from all attendees in championing the advancement of women within the industry.
